Just wanting to post a few things about this years hog contest…
-I never can tell how big this contest is going to be. Of course it seems to grow every year, but I sweat bullets with just the thought of it not being what it is expected.
-I’m surprised we haven’t had any bigger companies like Pulsar, Eotech, Cabelas, etc. reach out to us regarding the contest… I kind of thought they would notice how well this contest is performing and want to be a part of it. We would of course work with them to try and please.
-TIP: Buy 2 digital scales… especially those of you that are quite a ways from us. Don’t just trust one scale. Always weigh on 2 different ones. Farm scales are the devil, too, don’t trust them either. Get the hanging scales.
-Would someone please send me some ridiculous texts regarding the contest? I need some for the end of the contest to post. For those of you that didn’t get to see last years end of season “Text Post” Here ya go… CLICK ME.
-That feeder that WT Feeders is donating for the contest is pretty awesome. I may end up buying one after the season for myself. Here is a video of one being constructed. NeeHi Feeder
-I know we kind of surprised you guys with the weigh-in location change, but it is for the better. We have always weighed our own hogs for this contest and we don’t want to risk the integrity of this contest by not being there ourselves to weigh. We know what to look for and we just don’t want to risk it. So it’s going to be at Tres’s house this year. He moved, so it’s not in the same location as it was last year.
-Is everyone ready for the “That pig doesn’t look 200 pounds but they are winning the contest at 300 pounds” posts and feedback on Facebook? Cameras can be deceiving, and people can be morons.
-With only one sponsor this year, it looks like our banners are going to have whatever we want to on them. I may even make some up… not sure yet. But might as well have fun with it.
-Depending on the size of the contest this year. We made add an extra place. We just aren’t sure yet. We shall see…
-Make sure to follow us on Facebook to stay tuned to updated ranks and other news regarding the contest. Also, you can sign up for our newsletter on the contest sign up page. We will not send out an email everyday when the ranks change, only once a week or so, but we will update our FB Page with the updated ranks very quickly.
-Good luck to all in the contest. Please follow the rules and help keep this a clean and fair contest. We appreciate you all participating and help with lowering the hog population. If you would please keep track of how many hogs you kill during this contest. We would kind of like to know how many when you bring one in to weigh.
