Friday morning, THG’s other half, Tres, took off to Colorado for a mule deer hunt… you will notice real soon that he hunts a lot.
I took my daughter to do a little dove hunting Friday evening after work, just to see how they flew at a lease down the road… And after an hour, we did pretty well! I even had a dove land on a tree and get stuck… had to fight a spider off to get it.
Also had 2 people sign up for the Big Buck Competition we are having this year. I think there will be a big pot this year for those who place, plus you can’t beat a free shoulder mount for 1st place, or free processing for 2nd. I am also working on goody bags for everyone that gets a deer scored.
Saturday came and went at the speed of light, but it was a good one!
We crashed 2 parties! One at Cinnamon Creek Ranch, who was having a Texas Bowhunter member party. Everyone was nice and my wife and I were still able to shoot our bows and get everything finalized for opening day of bow season! We are really starting to like this place more and more. They were even glad to take a couple of stickers to hand out.
And I purchased the Hypodermics by Rage that I had been wanting to try out. One is up for trade, just post under Broadhead Trading on the forum! I still am waiting to smoke a hog with my Toxic broadhead by Flying Arrow, which I think will make one heck of an impact on my recovery.
To top off the night, we crashed another party at the unopened Twin Peaks Restaurant in North Fort Worth. There were a lot of cars, so we just went in and were seated. Turns out, it was family and friends night and and the servers were in training. We didn’t care and were happy to get a free 2 free meals and a free appetizer. I want you to know the Nachos were ginormous and so was there club sandwich… highly recommended!
I also had a phone call from someone who was wanting to advertise on the website… it is going to be discounted till 2014.
Nice little set up! I need a bow stand on the windmill.
Sunday morning was corn spreading time at the lease… And all I could do was think about the mass amount of hatred I had for the boar that was terrorizing my bow stand! I spread some of the Hog Cheese and Big Game Butter and came running back home with my tail between my legs!
Big Game Butter with a side of corn.
I’m not too familiar with Big Game Butter other than the fact that it is made by the same people who make Hog Cheese. I have had a couple people tell me that it works very well.
I couldn’t help but go back to the lease to try and take down my hog Sunday night. You still don’t see any pictures of it, so you know I’m still is the loser column! Hog 1 – Trey 0
I have had this boar get so close to my bow stand, but hasn’t made it into the light, so I’m thinking about trying one of the lights for my bow where I don’t have to use the stationary hog light, but I am still undecided.
Trey I’m mixing half record rack and half corn. It’s working great. Deer are eating everything my feeder throws. My brother in law said when he ran out of record rack the deer quit coming religiously. Tractor supply 15 bucks for 50 lbs bag.
The longer they stay close to your deer feeder, the more deer it will scare away. I would take it out ASAP by bow, rifle, exposives, traps, day or night…
Jawls “religiously” post reminds me of a joke about the atheist camping in Alaska. During his sleep a bear grabs him and throws him 30 feet away. Before the bear gets to him, he calls to God and begs God to hear him and promises to change his ways for just one request. So he asked God to make the bear a Christian.
There was a moment of thunder and lightning, the bear flinched and shook, turned around and knelt down in prayer. The last thing the atheist heard the bear say was, “Dear God, thank you for this which I am about to receive…”

That is on my list to try then! I will swing by and get some before I go back out later this week… Thx!
