It is official! We have the place reserved and the date is set!
Not only is this a Wild Hog Round-Up hunting contest for hunters, but it is also a hunting expo that will take place inside the main hall of the Decatur Civic Center (kind of like a mini Hunter’s Extravaganza). The Hunting Expo will start at 12 p.m. and the weigh-in/measuring process for the hogs will start at 1 p.m. in the back parking lot.
WHEN: Saturday, June 21st, 2014 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. (may last later depending on the vendors); 7 p.m. Awards Ceremony; 9 p.m. Concert
WHERE: Decatur Civic Center – Main Hall
WHO: There will be many vendors and other outdoor companies.
HOW MUCH: Free to the public and those who enter the Wild Hog Round-Up Contest, but there will be a $5 cover for those who arrive after 7:30 p.m.
It is the actual 2 day competition for hog hunters to challenge one another for the cash prize in different categories of the contest. The day of the event is the last day of the contest and is when all the hogs will be brought in and weighed or measured at the back parking lot of the Decatur Civic Center while the Hunting Expo is taking place. Anyone can come see the weigh-in and see why these animals are so destructive! It was put together to help decrease the hog population to benefit our local farmers and ranchers.
If you are interested in hunting in the contest, there is a tab up above with all of the entry forms and official rules of the contest.
If any vendors or sponsors are interested, please contact us through our contact form and we will send you a sponsor/vendor packet.
I’m still making a couple tweaks to the event so check back often!
