Kory Chapman & his son Tyler
Kory Chapman started the hog contest in 2011 as a way to keep the hunting vibe going for Wise County. He had trapped many hogs over the years to help out the local farmers, but I don’t think it was enough. For those of you that know Kory, know he is an avid hunter, but at the same time, is a generous hunter… he doesn’t have to shoot to have a good time! Kory would rather be the lookout, spotter, video man, or even the tag along just to be there to witness an awesome hunt! He has had a lot of praise from a lot of people for starting this contest and we couldn’t be happier to keep it going and watch it grow.
Eventually, this contest didn’t just stay in Wise County…
There are now people from all over North Texas and even some down South that join in this contest every year. With the weighing of a hog having to be within 24 hrs. of the kill, some people have driven the entire night, just to have a hog weighed. The anticipation of looking at a scale as a hog is being lifted is a feeling of its own. Hope to see you all in the contest for 2015! Good luck!
