With the UNO iPhone archery app archers around the world save millions of hours of bowsight setup time
Our Story
One of us has elite level archery skills, another a deep knowledge of inertial sensing technology and a third a commitment to apply the most current technology to advance one of humankind’s oldest inventions – the bow and arrow.
The UNO iPhone App is inspired by our shared mission to deliver useful, fun and easy-to-use tools to help archers shoot better from the start while saving them countless hours of time.
Recieving a new piece of archery equipment is always exciting. But before you can begin honing your skills you first need to setup your bowsight. A tedious and time consuming process that takes hours. The UNO archery app uses arrow ballistics and the iPhone to get the job done in minutes. Simply, sight-in at one distance, say 20 yards, provide the app with a few details about your bow and the UNO delivers all the sight marks you need. Place the phone against your bowsight and slide the remaining sight pins to match the locations in the iPhone’s display. Your done!
When we built the first system to measure arrow flight data we weren’t sure how well it would work or where it would lead. We did know that measured arrow ballistics hold the promise of improved archery performance that archers around the world can share with one another! But first, we had to design a tiny precision sensing system in an arrowpoint that can withstand over 4,000g every time it impacts the target. We did and our current product, the Velocitip System, is used by top archery pro shops, field editors and archery manufacturers. WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN DO MORE.
The Velocitip technology provides the first direct measure of arrow drag in flight. Over the last three years we’ve used the Velocitip with hundreds of combinations of bows and arrows. With knowledge of arrow speed and drag, trajectory can be more precisely determined because it is not based on approximate data.
Our small start-up pioneered a tremendous advance in archery technology. The Velocitip System reflects our capabilities and our commitment to providing archers with the very best solutions.
We have the overall framework for the UNO app that you see in our video. And we’ve developed the trajectory algorithm to translate ballistic performance into bowsight settings. Although using the Velocitip at your local pro shop to record measured flight data will deliver the most precise results, the UNO app also provides close-to-the-mark sight settings when Velocitip data is unavailable for your equipment.
NOW WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT so every archer who sights in a bow can have the benefit of the UNO’s app-enabled technology. With your backing we will bring the UNO to life and deliver a fun, intuitive and useful mobile app for archers around the world.
As a small startup, we can’t afford to develop the UNO app unless our customers and others in the archery and technology communities are excited to see it happen. We understand the importance of delivering a great tool with an awesome user experience and need your help to bring an iOS developer on board. We’ve spent the last 9 months developing and testing the trajectory algorithm. But before we make the commitment to go from prototype to product, we need your backing. The $25,000 raised will fund development and make UNO a reality.
We’re working on it but not everyone has access to the sport of archery today. Our rewards are designed to give archer and non-archer backers alike an opportunity to support our campaign and receive a reward that they value. Maybe you are like our CTO, Jan Vcelak who started work with us many years ago without any archery experience and now regularly participates. We hope this is just the connection you need to get out to the nearest archery range!
As a backer of a not so ordinary Kickstarter campaign, you deserve some extraordinary rewards. Choose among cool archery gear, joining the UNO design team or archery jewelry by Victoria Tane an exceptional local jewelry designer all at $100 or less.
At greater levels of support you can get yourself outfitted in our Pro Shooting Jersey or receive a virtual archery lesson from 2012 collegiate champ Joe Wilkin bundled with the cool archery gear and the cool jewelry.
It gets better. At $1,200 you’ll own the Velocitip System and more. At $1,800 your group of students receive archery lessons and a science, engineering, math and technology lesson based on the physics of arrow flight. At $3,000 your group gets two full days of archery lessons with the style of bow that you choose (recurve, compound or crossbow). At $5,000 we’ll take you and a friend on a 2 day spring bowhunt for wild turkey.
